Baby dies in mothers womb at LD, family alleges medical negligence

Srinagar, June 26: A baby died in mother’s womb at LD on Sunday following which his family members alleged medical negligence and demanded investigation.

Mehrajudin a resident of Nagam Chadoora while talking to KNO said that his wife had labour pain and expected delivery time was on Saturday, so we shifted her to SDH Nagam where she was checked by doctors on Saturday morning, however, doctors said that her water level is very low and there is need of emergency operation asked to shift her to LD.

Once we shifted her to LD, doctors at LD said let us wait for normal delivery and didn’t entertained the reports of SDH, he said, adding that repeatedly requested authorities to operate her and her water level is low but they delayed it by using different excuses like operation threatre isn’t ready.

Even during we went to staff as my wife was repeatedly requesting them that I have different pain not labour pain besides that there is no movement of my baby in my womb, but doctors very saying that everything is ok and let us wait for normal delivery.

However, on Sunday morning when we went for Doppler, it showed that baby has died before four hours and within few minutes they operated my wife, he said.

He added that matter must be investigated why they didn’t operated her, ignoring report of SDH Nagam besides that how operation threatre got ready within minutes when they came to know about death of baby in womb.

He along with his whole family demanded strict action against the involved doctors.

Meanwhile Medical Superintendent LD Dr Muzzafar told KNO that a five member committee has been constituted to enquire the matter and report of the committee will come in next two days after which any decision can be taken
