MeT predicts more
Srinagar: Light rain in parts of Kashmir has brought respite from scorching heat in the valley that continued for nearly a week with weatherman predicting more rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Kashmir experienced rain n the wee hours of Tuesday bringing some respite from the hot weather conditions.
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar, meanwhile, predicted more rainfall in Jammu & Kashmir and issued an advisory asking people to remain cautious and avoid venturing near places which are vulnerable to flash floods.
A MeT official told KNO that light to moderate rain occurred at many places of J&K this morning and it was still raining lightly. “Intermittent light to moderate rain is likely to continue at many places of J&K during the next 24-36 hours,” he said.
He said that there’s already lot of water in local streams, rivers etc due to melting of glaciers and addition of rain water in these streams often trigger flash floods and mudslides.
The official advised the people to remain cautious and avoid venturing near such places which are vulnerable to flash flood etc—(KNO)
