LeT militant associate apprehended with AK 47 in Shopian

Shopian police claimed to have arrested a militant associate in Sugan area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

An official said that a surprise joint Check point was laid by Shopian Police, 44 RR and 178 CRPF BN at Dragad Zainpora and during frisking of pedestrian and search of vehicles, a suspicious white coloured TATA mobile which was on way towards Chitragam from Sugan was intercepted by the joint check point parties and on noticing the check point.

He said that the driver of the suspicious vehicle tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended by the alert check point parties. During search of the vehicle , one AK rifle along with one Magazine and live Ammunition of AK were recovered.

He added that the driver of the vehicle disclosed his identity as Bilal Ahmed Dar S/o Nazir Ahmed Dar R/o Maldera Shopian.

FIR No 88/2022 under relevant sections of Arms act and UAP has been registered and investigation has been taken up, he added.
