Tral, 30 July: As part of the Digital J&K Week celebrations, a painting competition was organized by the Department of Computer Sciences and Debates, Seminar & Cultural Committee of Government
Degree College Tral on Saturday.
The main objective of the event was to create awareness around digital services provided by different government departments and enable students to recognise and present these services through their art.
Principal Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone inaugurated the painting competition. Speaking on the occasion, the principal highlighted the importance of digital world in shaping our society.
He also said that the government has launched digital services for ease of the public and to bring transparency in the delivery of services to the citizens.
A total of 23 students from various higher secondary Schools of the area and students from GDC Tral participated in the competition.
An official said that the students were provided drawing kits and the duration for the competition was kept one and a half hour, while students actively participated in the competition.
He said that the competition inspired them to think and work creatively developing various artistic works depicting various digital initiatives launched by the Government of J&K.
The creativity and the art of the students was highly praised and encouraged by the faculty members.
The program was coordinated by Prof. Gazi Imtiyaz Ahmad, Department of Computer Applications and moderated by Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Dar, Convener Debates, Seminar and Cultural Committee of the college.
The jury members who evaluated the paintings include Prof. Ishaq Ahmad Wani, Prof. Mohd Syed Lone, Prof. Feroz Ahmad Wani and Dr. Nisar Ahmad Malik.
Ms. Fiza Manzoor of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Tral secured first position where as Ms. Nawreena Qadir of Government Higher Secondary School Lurgam and Ms. Sumaira Fayaz of Government Higher Secondary School Noorpora bagged 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
Prof. Ishaq Ahmad Wani, Head Department of English presented concluding remarks and Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Dar presented vote of thanks. All the participants were provided a certificate of participation and the best three students were awarded cash prizes and certificate of appreciation.
