Hit & run case solved; driver, owner of the Tipper and impersonator arrested

Srinagar, 04 Dec (KS): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have solved a hit-and-run accident case in Hardpora Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district in which a youth were killed and another was injured.

A police spokesman in a statement to Kashmir Scroll said that on 01 December at about 17:00 hours Police Station Chadoora received an information that at Hardpora chadoora one vehicle tipper bearing registration Number JK04A/6869 driven by unknown driver while coming from Charar-e-Sharief towards Chadoora hit one scooty bearing registration No. JK04G/6003 driven by unknown rider, which was coming from opposite side resulting in injuries to the said scooty rider/pillion rider.

He said that both the injured persons were shifted to the hospital for treatment, who were later identified as Ubaid Shafi son of Mohammad Shafi Aakhon, a resident of Pampore and Huzaib Ahmad Yatoo son of Tariq Ahmad Yatoo, a resident of Nagam Chadoora.

Upon this information, the case FIR number 195/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Chadoora, and the investigation was taken up.

During the course of the investigation, both the accident-met vehicles were seized in the instant case, he said.

During treatment on 02 December, one of the injured, namely Ubaid Shafi succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Hospital srinagar.

During the course of investigation, one person namely Feroz Ahmed Sheikh son of Mohammad Abdullah Sheikh, a resident of Gopalpora Wathora appeared before police station Chadoora claiming to be the driver of the tipper at the time of incident .

However, during his questioning, it was ascertained that the actual driver of the tipper at the time of the incident was one Zahid Ahmed Gojri son of Ab Rashid Gojri resident of Rawalpora Srinagar.

During investigation it was also acertained that the actual tipper driver namely Zahid didn’t possess a valid driving licence due to which he asked his friend who is a licence holder to claim to be the actual driver of the tipper at the time of incident.

The driver of the vehicle namely Zahid Ahmad Gojri son of Abdul Rashid Gojri, a resident of Rawalpora Srinagar was arrested in the said case FIR number 195/2022 u/s 279, 304 A IPC, 3/181 MV Act.

The owner of the vehicle namely Abdul Rashid Gojri son of Abdul Razak Gojri, a resident of Rawalpora Srinagar has also been arrested for allowing his son without valid driving licence drive the tipper.

The impersonator, namely Feroz Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Abdullah Sheikh, a resident of Gopalpora Wathora has also been arrested for impersonation.

Parents are requested not to hand over your vehicles to minors and to those not in possession of valid driving licenses, he added.—(KS)
