This 4th feb. 2023 will always will be a day to remember for GMC Jammu. A dream envisaged by our Administration to fulfil the aspirations of people of Jammu was launched here. The much-awaited State Cancer Institute at GMC Jammu made a beginning. The OPD services were inaugurated by Secretary Health and Medical Education Mr. Bhupinder Kumar.
This is he first step to kick start cancer services in State Cancer Institute and soon will be followed by other services like day care services, in door services installation of latest machinery to treat cancer like Linear Accelerator, PET scan, Brachytherapy, CT Simulator, mammography, other diagnostic services like high end pathology, radiodiagnosis etc.
Awareness walk from State Cancer Institute to GMC Jammu was also organised in which B.sc Nursing and Paramedical students participated.
This was followed by one day CME organized by Oncology department. Dr. Shashi Sudan Sharma, Principal GMC Jammu presented an over view of State Cancer Institute. She elaborated the services that will be made available to the public in SCI. Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Head Oncology and Organizing Chairman presented the vision of State Cancer Institute from its inception to present day when the SCI has started its functioning. A special mention of Preventive Oncology services was made by all speakers so that we can diagnose cancers at early stage for successful treatment.
Mr. Ashwani Khajuria Administrator GMC Jammu, Dr. Manoj chalotra , MS SSH, Dr. Jitender Mehta Nodal officer SCI were present on the occasion. Dr. Deepak Kumar DMS, SCI also spoke on the occasion. Dr. Sunny Jandial Medical Oncologist was the organizing Secretary of the CME.
