Srinagar:- Under National programme for control of Deafness first case of canal wall down Mastoidectomy done at DH Pulwama.
A patient belonging to district baramulla came to DH Pulwama with a history of recurrent discharge right ear.
The patient was evaluated and a diagnosis of cholesteatoma was made based on radiology and clinical findings.
Patient underwent MODIFIED RADICAL MASTOIDECTOMY WITH TYPE 3 TP.
This procedure involves removing entire mastoid bone to access the disease and subsequent removal of cholesteatoma with subsequent reconstruction of hearing mechanism.The operation went uneventful.
The case was done by Dr Irfan ul shamas Consultant ENT DH Pulwama ,Dr Ajaz Mir anaesthetist, Junaid OT scrub, Fancy rashid anaesthesia technition, khurshid ahmad NO and wahid shaban.
Logistical support was provided by Dr BS Tulla Medical Superintendent.
Its pertinent to mention that worthy DHSK Dr Mushtaq Rather has taken keen interest in upgradation of ENT Section of DH Pulwama.
