B Khalil Anantnag residents urge LG, DC Anantnag to probe diversion of funds

The residents of G B Khalil area in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district are up in arms against the alleged diversion of funds that were sanctioned to macadamize the road leading to their area.
Residents said that priority roads are being neglected while preference is being given to non priority roads.
They said thar their forty year long pending demand to macadamize the road was fulfilled by the LG administration as sanction was accorded to macadamize 5.5 kilometre long road connecting their area..
They alleged that the funds meant to macadamize the roads leading to G B Khali area are being diverted towards macadamizing the non-priority roads.
The concerned department has taken up the macadmization of other roads and the department is giving lame excuses for it,” they alleged.
Department has started work on that very road that is connecting just few households including a PRI member, however, the road connecting hundreds of households and for what funds are actually meant is being neglected, they said.
Road going through village is the priority road and must be macadamised first and then they can macadamise other roads, they said, adding that first preference must be given to the road that is benefitting more people.
We urge the LG administration and Deputy Commissioner Anantnag to order a probe to know the reasons why the funds meant for this priority road have been diverted to other roads, residents said.
Matter must be investigated and action must be initiated against the employees and others involved in diversion of funds, they said.
Meanwhile an official of district administration said that they have already taken it’s cognizance and investigation has been taken up.
